Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud!

There was so much excitement at Kindy last Thursday when the children came dressed in gumboots, old clothes and raincoats for Mud Day. Real dirt, real mud and a real lot of good wholesome mess-making play and learning! The children played, dug, poured, scooped and created all morning, discovering and delighting in the joys of mud. Mud is such a great way to explore all five senses! Squish, squeeze, mix, stomp, and plop with glorious muddy mud!

Hockey Clinic

Last Thursday, all of our classes were very excited to be able to take part in a Hockey Clinic with Rodney Johnston, Upper Great Southern Hockey Development Officer. All of them thoroughly enjoy themselves, despite (or maybe because of)  the drizzly rain.

Winter Carnival Update

The St Matthew’s School Winter Carnival will be held on Thursday 25 June. This event will include only students from St Matthew’s School. Students from Years 3 – 6 will participate in a round-robin style tournament. Teams will play netball, hockey and soccer with slightly modified rules to cater for the varied ages and smaller team numbers. The event will focus on sportsmanship and participation with awards only given for sportsmanship for each team.

The Year 6 class will be running a meal deal fundraiser to support their end of year excursion. Students across the school will have the opportunity to order a hot food choice of a pie or sausage roll. An order form will be sent home on Monday.

More information will be provided closer to this event.

Our Year 6 leaders spent some quality time with the Pre-primary students last week. They helped them to read their favourite books. Both year levels loved the experience!
