St Matthew’s Feast Day/Cultural Afternoon Tea

On Thursday 21 September, St Matthew’s celebrated its Feast Day by holding an Open Day and Cultural Afternoon Tea. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the parents who attended this event, and especially those who supplied beautiful culturally inspired food to share with our community.

Narrogin Show

Congratulations to all who supported the Show by entering the different categories,  including the Pamugas family. Congratulations also to all of our students who contributed to this lovely display, and to our beautiful staff who set up and packed up this amazing artwork. I would also like to thank all the past and present families who stopped by to say hello to me throughout the day.

Congratulations, Jenaveve

In April this year, Jenaveve (Yr 6) represented St Matthew’s at the 2023 Saddles Plus Interschool Competition in Perth where she performed with her horse Wyatchwood Druid and achieved a number of championship placings including the Champion Combined Training Primary School award. Following on from that competition, Jenaveve and Druid were selected to represent WA at the 2023 Marcus Oldham Australian Interschool Championships as a member of the Western Australian Interschool State Team. This event ran from 29 September to 3 October.

We are very proud to announce that Jeneveve achieved the following results:

  • Australian Reserve Champion Primary Combined Training
  • Australian Working Hunter Championship – 2nd in jumping phase
  • Australian Primary Preliminary Dressage Championship = 6th overall

Congratulations, Jeneveve!!

Have Sum Fun Online Question

At Friday’s assembly, Mr Tenney shared one of the problems from the online challenge and we have had several parents losing sleep over trying to figure out the answer. Here it is:

The combined total of a pen and a pencil is $10.
The cost of the pen is $9 more than the pencil.
What is the cost of the pencil?

Answer: 50c

P&F Quiz Night

A huge thank you to all of the parents and community members who supported our P&F Quiz Night. Due to the generosity of many people and businesses, we were able to raise a total profit of $8,624. Some of this money will be spent on new furniture for around the school – keep an eye out for the new chairs and ottomans in the hallways soon!

Pre-Primary Fairytale Assembly

Last Friday, our beautiful Pre-Primary students presented their fairytale-inspired assembly. With the help of their teachers, they wrote, performed and directed this masterpiece. A big thank you to all who attended.

The Art Award for Week 2 went to Abigail (PP) for her beautiful mixed-media flower picture. Congratulations!
