100 Days of School Dress Up Day 28 July

On Friday 28 July , we celebrated 100 days of school.  Students and staff dressed up as if they were 100 years old! All classes earnt an extra play prize for their amazing costumes. 

 

Tēnā koe Danielle!

A huge thank you to Danielle van Rooyen for coming in to talk to the Year 1’s, 2’s and 4’s about Maori culture on Wednesday 26 July. The children loved learning about this beautiful culture and particularly enjoyed learning the  Maori Stick Game. We really appreciate the time and effort Danielle put into her presentation. 

 

Celebrating the Philippines 

A huge thank you to Romnick Peru, Mike Brillo, Nicka Brillo and Jhonna Barrintos for creating the spectacular Hall/Library display and papier mache kalabaw; and Dorothy Ejercito for preparing a beautiful and engaging PowerPoint presentation.

 

Year 3 Assembly – Animals Everywhere

Our beautiful Year 3 class entertained us at last Friday’s assembly. They shared information about animals they had been researching and then finished with a gorgeous performance.

 

Year 5 Statistics

This term, Year 5 students are exploring statistics. They chose a question to gather data from students or staff. The students have collected the data by survey. This data will be used to create a graphs on paper and by the use of technology. Finally, students will interpret this data and draw conclusions.

 

Art Awards

The Art Award for Week 3 went to the Year 5 class for their impressive aboriginal art-inspired blanket. Congratulations!

 

Honour Certificates

Congratulations to all our Honour Certificate recipients. We are very proud of you.

Congratulations Oliver and Tamaiti!

We are very proud to share that Oliver Batt (graduating class of 2022) has recently been selected to represent WA in the Under 13’s Hockey as a goalie and Tamaiti Williams (graduating class of 2014) plays for the New Zealand All Blacks Rugby team.

We are absolutely thrilled for both of these boys. Congratulations!

Australian Maths Competition

38 students in Years 3 to 6 took part in the Australian Mathematics Competition this week. The Australian Mathematics Competition is Australia’s longest running, largest and most well-known maths competition for school students. It contains unique problems designed by leading educators and academics to challenge and extend students’ problem-solving skills. Congratulations to everyone who participated.

 

2023 Chess Competition

St Matthew’s School Chess Tournament has officially begun with 32 competitors competing in the first round. Good luck everyone!
