Year 5 and 6 Enrichment students travelled to Curtin University on Saturday 28 August to participate in the WA Creative Edge Competition. Up against 76 other schools, they were tasked with solving a long-term challenge and a spontaneous challenge, all with zero teacher or parent help. Well done to all students. You did St Matts proud!
Kindy Excursion Downtown
On Thursday, 26 August, our beautiful Kindy friends walked downtown to visit some local places. They began by visiting Narrogin Fruit
Market. The children bought a piece of fruit for their morning tea. They then walked to the Gnarrojin Park and enjoyed the fruit and a yummy treat for morning tea. This was followed by a play and some time exploring the park area. They then boarded a bus and had a tour around Narrogin.
Fathers’ Day Celebrations
Over the past week, St Matthew’s has held several events to celebrate our wonderful dads:
Father’s Night at Kindy
We hope our dads had a great Father’s Day celebration at Kindy last Thursday night.
It was so exciting to bring Dad to Kindy at nighttime! We painted dad’s hands, made some biscuits, and constructed with boxes and wood. It was so much fun when we shaved Dad’s face, and we made a helicopter that twirled to the ground. We sang some songs and presented dad with a trophy for being Super Dad. We finished our night with a sausage sizzle and an ice-cream. It was a fabulous night.
Thank you, dad😊

Olympic Dads at Pre-Primary
On Friday morning, the Pre-Primary Dads were treated to a special performance of Fathers’ Day songs and got the chance to join their child in a dramatisation of the story: ‘Kisses for Daddy’. Then the dads were invited to join the children in a special Dad Olympics. The dads tested their strength, speed and agility as they threw balls and beanbags at targets, kicked soccer goals, flew kites in a speedy relay and fished for ducks! Each dad was presented with a large gold medal in our Japanese zen garden and received some handcrafted gifts as a reminder of how special they are. Thank you to all the Dads, mums, aunties and guardians who attended to help make this a fantastic celebration!
P&F Fathers’ Day Breakfast
Our amazing P&F mums got up bright and early on a very chilly Friday morning to help us all celebrate Fathers’ Day. They made delicious bacon and egg rolls and wraps to feed over 150 eager mouths. The staff were thrilled by the excellent turn out and we would love to thank the P&F for helping us acknowledge the wonderful men in our students’ lives.
Art Award
Congratulations to Miley (Year 5) and Oscar (Year 2) for both receiving Art Awards last assembly. You should both be very proud of your creations.
