Winter Carnival

We held our first Intraschool Winter Carnival on Thursday for Years 3 to 6. The weather was perfect and so was the behaviour. The children played either netball, soccer or hockey. At the end of the carnival, one student from each team was awarded with a certificate for demonstrating effort, good sportsmanship and leadership throughout the day. It was lovely to be able to welcome parents onsite and at the hockey field to support their children.

Honour Certificates

Congratulations to all of our Honour Certificate recipients. Individual photos of these beautiful people have been shared with families through Seesaw.

Art Awards

The Art Award for Week 9 went to Zoe (Year 5) for a decorative letter design. This is Zoe’s second win this term – congratulations, Zoe.

Peter Scott Literacy Award

In 2018, St Matthew’s School celebrated 100 years of Catholic Education. Mr Peter Scott, a former student at St Matthew’s, provided a generous donation to enhancing Literacy in our school. This donation has enabled us to purchase new books for our school library, introduce a literacy intervention programme and fund the Peter Scott Literacy Award for the next ten years. This year, all students in Years 1- 6 are completing a narrative on the topic of ’Lost”. The winners will be announced next term. As a teaser, we thought it would be nice to publish some of the children’s writing from this term:
